Crowne Plaza Hotel Shenzhen

Introduction

The 17-storey Crowne Plaza Shenzhen is a theme hotel, one of three owned by the Overseas Chinese Town (华侨城, OCT) group. In this case the theme is Venice and the hotel’s name in Chinese means Venetian. The Winged Lion of St. Mark, sitting above the hotel, painted in 1516 by Vittore Carpaccio for the Magistrato dei Camerlenghi in Rialto is exhibited today in the Doges’ Palace in Venice. Bell staff wears gondolier costumes and the décor looks like Italy.

The hotel has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a very large fitness center with certified personal trainers, sauna and steam facilities. The spa specializes in Hydrotherapy treatments. Other amenities include a beauty shop, gift shop and a self service laundry. A small shopping arcade features some nice gift items as well as sundries.

The hotel is surrounded by theme parks which include Window of the World (all the world monuments replicated in miniature), Splendid China and the Chinese Cultural Villages (see all of China in an day) and Happy Valley an amusement park. This makes this hotel a great choice for families or those with limited time in China. Crowne Plaza is minutes away from Futian Centre and the Hi-Tech Zone, 15 minutes away from Shekou Harbour Passenger Terminal and 20 minutes away from Lowu Port and Shenzhen International Airport.

Guest rooms range from 32 m² to 50 m² and are neutral albeit uninspiring in the plain beige décor with about half featuring balconies.

The Crown Plaza Shenzhen is a good hotel that manages to satisfy the needs of both the business and leisure traveler. The staff is pleasant and efficient.
