Introduction
So just what is Nepalese food? That is the question you might ask about the Nepalese restaurant located in Cocopark. The space is welcoming yet elegant.
The attentive staff are eager to please. Like your food spicy? This is the place. If you want to tone it down a little just ask, and you will be impressed by the flavorful dishes.
Nepalese cuisine is much like Indian, however it is simpler and more natural. Less oil is used, and there are none of the bright, artificial colors so common in Indian recipes like tandoori. The Nepalese partner, Pramond, described how in the mountains of Nepal, it is quite a hike to go down to purchase oil, so it is used sparingly.
On the menu, you will find a nice variety of both familiar dishes and ones that are indigenous to the mountains of Nepal. A great way to sample this exotic cuisine is to take advantage of the buffet offered on Sundays from noon until 3pm. For 68 rmb per person, you can try all kinds of different dishes. Don’t forget to try the Nepalese beer.
You could start a meal with a chicken appetizer (#69). For the main course, the duck (#71) is amazing. The names are interesting, but using the numbers is easier. You might also try a fish dish (#90) or lamb (#100 and #82) that were also excellent. If you are vegetarian, the lentils (#104) were surprisingly flavorful. Of course, no meal is complete without the rice and naan bread. They offer desserts as well, but with all the delicious food you may be too full to try them.
