Location
Situated on the east bank of the estuary of Zhujiang River, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport lies about 35 kilometers (about 21.7 miles) from downtown Shenzhen.
Brief Intro
In 1991, the airport was open to air traffic. In 1993, it became an international airport with a 4E standard flight area, a 3,400-meter (about 3,718 yards) runway, a 146-thousand-square-meter (about 36 acres) Terminal Building with a year passenger flow volume of about 1,500 persons. The fourth largest airport in China, it now serves around 107 air routes from Shenzhen to over 80 domestic and international cities and regions.
Terminal Buildings
Shenzhen Airport has three terminal buildings—Terminal A, Terminal B and Terminal D (namely International Terminal). While driving into the airport, you will come across Terminal B firstly and then Terminal A and Terminal D in turn. Currently, there is a long bridge connecting the two Departures Halls respectively on the 2F of Terminal A and Terminal B. Passengers could shuttle between these two terminals easily on foot.
The Terminal D has been put into use since Dec 2008, only serving international departure and arrival flights. Besides of it, a part of international airlines are operated in Terminal B as well.
Apart from the above ones, there are many city terminal buildings of Shenzhen Airport in nearby cities. Till now, Shenzhen International Airport has had 14 city terminal buildings, extending its service to several cities including Hong Kong, Macau, Dongguan, Zhuhai, and Huizhou. Passenger service of check-in, tickets buying and flight inquiry are served there. Besides, there are specials buses or ferries offered to take passengers directly to the airport.
As well as the terminal buildings A and B in Shenzhen Airport, a number of terminal buildings of Shenzhen airport in nearby cities are provided for passengers’ convenience. So far there are ten city terminal buildings of Shenzhen International Airport, located in six cities. They are in Hong Kong, Macau, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai. Five of the terminal buildings are in Dongguan city. Each of the other cities have one terminal building. Check-in, tickets buying and flight inquiries are served at these city terminal buildings. In addition, special buses or ferries to Shenzhen International are available, which make your flight much more convenient and enjoyable. Transportation in Shenzhen International Airport is quite convenient. There are Airport Shuttle Buses running to downtown center in Shenzhen and some important nearby cities. Buses and Ferries heading to Macau and Hong Kong are also available.

Baggage Carts: the airport offers baggage carts for the passengers’ free use. They can be found at the Arrival Baggage Pick-up counter on the first floor, in the middle gate of the Departure Hall on the second floor of Terminal Building A, and at the Arrival Baggage Pick-up counter on the first floor of Terminal Building B.
Overweight Luggage Counter: Seated in No.93 check-in counter of Terminal A and No. 19 and No. 20 check-in counter of Terminal B.
Special Passage: Academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputies of National and Provincial People’s Congress, members of the CPPCC, the disables, unaccompanied children, the elders of Sixty-five years old and above and etc. may enter the departure hall through the special passages. It locates besides the No. 51 counter on duty on the second floor of Terminal A.
